“A Transformative Gift for Peace Neighborhood Center!”

Dear Peace Family –

I’m very excited to share that Peace has been selected to receive a $2 million gift as an awardee from the Yield Giving Open Call.

In March 2023, Yield Giving launched an Open Call for community-led, community-focused organizations—like Peace Neighborhood Center—whose explicit purpose is to enable individuals and families to achieve substantive improvement in their well-being. Thanks to a former Board member, Peace received the link to apply and submitted a grant application last June.

Peace was selected from among 6,353 community-based organizations from all 50 states, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico—after a process that included multiple levels of review and feedback: a peer review round conducted by other applicants, review by an external Evaluation Panel recruited for their experience relevant to this cause, and final due diligence by the Yield Giving Open Call donor team.

I can’t overstate how ecstatic we were when we received the great news! This is a transformative gift for Peace Neighborhood Center—the largest single investment our agency has ever received.

We are honored, humbled, and incredibly grateful for the generous recognition of the work we do to help people change their lives. In the feedback Peace received throughout the process, we were recognized for the strength and diversity of our leadership and staff, our 52 years of experience and growth, the impact Peace has had on thousands of people’s lives, and the longevity of the community support we receive from our donors and funding partners.

I would be remiss if I didn’t thank all of you. Make no mistake, Peace Neighborhood Center would never be in a position to receive this kind of validation for the work we do without our dedicated staff, our former and current Board members, the many Peace Alumni who continue to stay in touch with the agency and support our work—and of course, our generous community of donors and funding partners who have faithfully sustained our mission and work over the last 52+ years. Thank you!

The Yield Open Call’s unrestricted support will make it possible for Peace to continue to build upon what you helped us start with our 50th Campaign: to build our long-term financial sustainability and invest in new initiatives— including the new HUB Community Resource Center Peace is currently developing in Ypsilanti Township.

On behalf of everyone here at Peace Neighborhood Center, we appreciate all the ways you continue to support our mission and work. We couldn’t do it without you.

With Gratitude,

Bonnie Billups, Jr.
Executive Director

The Peace Center is like a home away from home. It really is special, both in the summer and during after school programs. This place feels like it is our roots. Even as you grow, you still are with your roots.
